Dear Loudonville Christian School Families and Friends,
It is with great sadness that I am writing this letter to our families and friends to share some news from our beloved principal, Mr. Calkins:
I have mixed feelings as I announce that this will be my last year as Principal of our wonderful school. I am finishing my seventh year here and I have been privileged to work with many excellent staff and parents in our school, as well as see the growth of your students that you have entrusted to us. My wife, Linda, and I have been praying for some time about being more available to our children and grandchildren that live on the west coast. I discussed with Mrs. Hills about leaving last year but did not want to leave at the same time as Mr. Phelps. I am so glad I returned for this year because it has been one of the best of my seven here!
However, when one of our granddaughters was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in February, Linda and I began to think again about the right time to be nearer to that part of the family. I am leaving a school that I believe to be very healthy and heading in a good direction! I am confident that your new Principal is positioned to be very successful as she brings a great love for the Lord and a heart for Christian education and all young people! Linda and I may be back to visit as we have 2 other adult children that live in Boston just a couple of hours away, and there is always Facebook!!
LCS and all of you will always be in my heart and prayers. Thank you for seven wonderful years as your Principal!
Yours, because I am His,
The Lord has blessed LCS with a new principal for the 2017-18 school year, Mrs. Amanda Bigham, who has been a part of our LCS family for many years. Mrs. Bigham was approached by me earlier this year to consider getting a degree in administration. Mrs. Bigham prayed about this opportunity, proceeded to matriculate into George Washington University’s post-graduate program in Educational Leadership and Administration, interviewed with the LCS’ School Board Executive Committee, and has been asked to serve as our PK-12 Principal beginning July 1, 2017.
Mr. Tim Calkins will be very hard to replace and big shoes to fill indeed and we wish him and Linda joy in their new journey as they pour into their family more frequently and with more availability. I remember how thrilled I was on Mr. Calkins’ first day at LCS; April 12, 2010… Tim has always been a good partner to work alongside, and a blessing to serve with these past seven years.
It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to my friend, Mr. Calkins at the end of this school year.
In His palm together,
Head of School
